Privacy Policy

MazeTale ("we", "our", "the app") is an interactive fiction service available at
mazetale.com and as an Android application. This policy explains what
information we collect, why, and how you can control it.
Information we collect
- Account information: email address and encrypted password (or Google account identifier
if you sign in with Google), managed by our authentication provider, Supabase.
- Usage data: the story genre/theme, tone, and language you choose, and the choices you
make while playing, so the app can generate and continue your story. Story text may be temporarily processed
by our AI provider (DeepSeek) to generate scenes. We also keep a small persistent summary derived from your
choices (e.g. a general tendency score and a few notable story moments) so new stories can carry a light,
optional reference to your past choices.
- Balance and purchase data: your token ("jeton") balance and VIP status, and purchase
receipts when you buy tokens or a VIP subscription through Google Play Billing (Android) or Freemius
(web).
- Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) collected by
our hosting provider (Vercel) for security and reliability.
- Cover images: a short English search phrase describing your story's setting may be sent
to Pexels to fetch a free stock photo for your story's cover.
How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and token balance.
- To generate and continue your interactive stories.
- To process purchases and verify them with Google Play.
- To show advertising (see below) and, if you use "watch an ad for tokens", to grant the reward.
- To keep the service secure and diagnose problems.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show display ads on the site. For the optional "watch an ad for tokens" reward, we
use Monetag. Both partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve ads based on your visit to this and
other sites. You can manage ad personalization at
adssettings.google.com. If you are in
the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent choice before personalized ads are enabled.
Third-party services we use
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
- DeepSeek — AI text generation for story scenes.
- Vercel — website and API hosting.
- Google Play Billing — in-app purchases (Android app only).
- Freemius — order processor and merchant of record for web purchases.
- Google AdSense — display advertising.
- Monetag — rewarded video ads.
- Pexels — free stock cover photos.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account and balance data for as long as your account exists. Saved stories are stored in your
browser and also synced to our servers so you can continue a story across devices.
How to delete your MazeTale account
To delete your MazeTale account, send an email to
support@mazetale.com from your registered
email address with the subject line "Delete my account". We will confirm your request and permanently delete your
account within 30 days.
Deleting your account permanently removes your email and account credentials, jeton balance and VIP status,
saved and in-progress stories, purchase history, and your reputation/legacy summary. Some anonymized technical
server logs (e.g. IP address, timestamps) may be retained for a limited period for security and fraud-prevention
purposes before being automatically deleted.
Children's privacy
MazeTale is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from
children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
